First SMART LightRaise 60wi Install

Pictures from Our First Smart LightRaise 60wi Installation

The first install went smoothly. The Smart Lightraise projectors require a greater deal of coordination to install. Please see attached documents specifically the Surface Selection sheet if you are interested in the details. These are not quick installations. It's best to pair the projector up with a white board your local Smart Representative recommends based on the specifications attached. LightRaise Surface Selection Guide

Smart definitely does know of the Light Raise installation issues and they have required Haverford Systems and other Smart Reps to go to mandatory training.

"The LightRaise 60wi interactive projector is a wall-mounted, short-throw projector that transforms almost any wall or dry-erase board into an interactive surface that you can use like an interactive whiteboard. However, optimal finger touch quality depends on the surface you choose to project your image on. This document provides guidelines to follow when choosing a surface to use with your interactiv eprojector."

All this just to use your finger instead of a pen and a SMARTboard? I haven't done the cost comparison but it might be a wash when compared to using a EPSON short throw and SMARTBoard.
We will be doing a cost comparison of the Epson short throw with a SmartBoard and the Smart Lightraise with a regular white board. This should be a interesting comparison. It seems like the LightRaise has a lot of hype and everyone thinks it's going to be a much cheaper way to get a "Smart" Class room. But I'm not so sure everything is as easy as that. One thing for sure is we are going to see a lot more interactive projectors. Smart, Epson and InFocus all have interactive projectors that are competitively priced but who will be the best?
