Hello AV & IT Professional!
So if you have heard about Intel UNITE yet we have a crash course ready for you! We go over every Intel NUC "Next Unit of Computing": the Celeron, i3. i5 and i7. Then we go over the Intel UNITE software and how you can lock down Intel NUC's as dedicated appliances, add wireless presentation, collaboration and file sharing for your team. To top it all off Intel has released Intel UNITE as a free software add on to the NUC!
UPDATE 7/6/2016: "I wanted to clarify that our Intel Unite software for meeting spaces will only run on a limited number of mini PC platforms today, all of which feature our Intel Core vPro processors. For the Intel NUC product line today, this only includes the Intel NUC Board NUC5i5MYBE and the Intel NUC Kit NUC5i5MYHE, which both feature a 5th gen Intel Core i5 vPro processor. Processors without vPro support, like the ones shown on the CRS posting, are not viable as room solutions running Intel Unite software."
UPDATED: 9/27/2016: Intel has just released the 3rd generation of Intel NUC MicroPC computers. CRS is now stocking the i5 model with Product Code: NUC-I5-NUC6I5SYK-H available here: http://www.conferenceroomsystems.com/intel-nuc-i5-p/nuc-i5-nuc6i5syk-h.htm.
Intel UNITE Introduction:
In the following guide you will learn how to setup Intel UNITE with installation instructions and feature overviews such as annotation, collaboration, file sharing and wireless presentation. We go over all the details of the new Intel UNITE software. In our Intel NUC review we cover the various pre-built Intel NUCs we offer with a choice of: Celeron, i3, i5 or i7 processor. Custom built Intel NUC PCs are great for online collaboration rooms and you can use Intel UNITE software to create a dedicated appliance for users. With Intel UNITE software installed in appliance mode you can give users access only to what they need. With an Intel NUC running UNITE as the “host PC”, you can connect any tablet, Windows or Mac computer for wireless presentation and collaboration. In our live demo we review how the file sharing works along with presenting with multiple users. Enjoy our “choose your own adventure” video series where everyone can learn a little bit more about the new free Intel UNITE software.
Intel Unite is new software offered by Intel that provides the ability to lock down a Intel NUC and create a dedicated appliance for wireless presentation, collaboration and even video conferencing. Once installed on your Windows computer you can collaborate with people on your local network securely behind your corporate firewall. In this video series we will review all the features of Intel UNITE.
Intel UNITE Installation on Intel NUC
You can install the Intel UNITE software on a Intel NUC at the following link: https://www-ssl.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/unite/intel-unite-overview.html. The Intel UNITE software will turn your Intel NUC into a wireless presentation, collaboration and file sharing machine that you can lock down. The Intel UNITE solution from Intel is built to provide a easy way for IT teams to deploy meeting room technology such as wireless presentation, file sharing and collaboration/annotation on a locked down dedicated machine. By turning a Intel NUC into a dedicated appliance you can make sure your users do not tamper with the Windows operating system and only have access to the resources they need to present in the conference room.
Wireless Presentation with Intel UNITE
Once you have sucessfully installed the Intel UNITE software on your Intel NUC you can wireless present from any computer on your network. The Intel NUC will display a IP Address where computers on your network can access the client download used to access the system over your local area network. Once you have the client software downloaded you can install it on your Windows or Mac computer and connect to the Intel UNITE software installed on a Intel NUC. You can then connect up to 4 computer on your network to wirelessly present, share files and annotation on a shared document.
Intel UNITE Collaboration and Annotation
The Intel UNITE software will provide screen sharing with annotation capabilities so that you can collaborate with other users over your local area network. Intel has designed the UNITE collaboration software to be secure within your network and with a SSL. So you can therefore connect multiple PC's on your network to the INTEL NUC with the UNITE software. Each computer will need the Intel UNITE client software and with that they can securely connect to the display using the code provided and demonstrated in our video.
Intel UNITE File Sharing
Intel UNITE comes with file sharing as part of the collaboration software. Once you have installed the Intel UNITE software and have your computer set up with the client software (available via download from a IP address displayed on the Intel NUC host PC) you can share files, collaborate and annotate on shared documents over your local area network.
